The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is India's national initiative to build a shared digital health infrastructure: a set of standards and registries that let patients, clinics, labs and hospitals exchange health records consistently, with the patient's consent controlling every share.
For a clinic, ABDM shows up as a few concrete pieces: ABHA (a patient's health ID), the Health Facility Registry and Healthcare Professionals Registry (where a clinic and its doctors register), the consent manager (which records permission for every data share), and FHIR (the format records are structured in when they're exchanged).
A clinic doesn't need to build any of this itself. Software that supports ABDM properly — like Saaro Health — handles registration, ABHA linking, consent capture and FHIR formatting as part of the ordinary workflow.
